Lynsey aka The Demon Librarian.
Hey, everyone! I'm Lynsey, the blog founder, and I've been blogging and reviewing pretty constantly for around 18 months now. I'm British, and I reside in a little seaside town in the north-west of England. My favourite genres to read are Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Steampunk, Dystopian, Historical Romance (Highlanders! Och aye!), Sci-fi Romance, Paranormal Mysteries, and anything else that has a dash of romance, action and magic!I read a lot. Usually around 250 books a year. That's a combination of real books and audiobooks. I never go anywhere without either my iPod or eReader, and more often both! My top 5 book series (this list changes all the time) are currently: The Hollows by Kim Harrison, The Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance, The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire, The Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews and the Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs.
What I look for most when reading are good characters. I can read an "okay" story with brilliant characters and call it a job well done. But an amazing story with only flat, 2D characters in it will have the opposite effect, and probably leave me very frustrated over the missed opportunity. I want to be made to care about the characters; to grin, to laugh, to cry, to ache. That's good characterisation to me.
When I'm not reading or reviewing I'm usually chatting about books. Obsessed? Who me? If you want to you can find me on the following websites:

I am a fast reader and have been known to devour a book a day. Most of my reading is done on my iPod (never leave home without it!), but I do occasionally make paperback/hardcover purchases so I can savor the feel of an actual book in my hands. Audiobooks are not for me; I don't like to be read to, I prefer to imagine everything myself.
My favorite genres are Urban Fantasy, Paranormal, Dystopian, Steampunk, Historical Fiction, and Fantasy. I don't read Westerns, Erotica, or Sci-Fi (although I will occasionally make an exception for a good Sci-Fi Romance) but hand me a fairy tale retelling and I'm a happy camper.
My favorite books are the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, Experiment in Terror series by Karina Halle, October Daye series by Seanan McGuire, The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, Fever series by Karen Marie Moning, Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh, Dorina Basarab series by Karen Chance, and the Descent series by S.M. Reine. I cut my fantasy teeth on the novels of Jennifer Roberson, and her Cheysuli series and Swordancer series remain dear to my heart to this day. My favorite classic novels are Jane Eyre, Frankenstein, and Pride and Prejudice.
Wit, style, and evocative writing will win me over every time. But to really capture my reader's heart and secure a place on my favorites shelf, a book needs two important things: complex, darkhorse characters who don't fit neatly into black or white molds, and a simmering romance, rife with sexual tension. Love at first sight, or "instalove", is a very tough sell for me. I like to anticipate the romance, to see it unfold one highly-charged moment at a time. I want the relationship to weather at least a few good storms, so that by the end, when the characters do get together, I feel like they have really earned their Happily Ever After instead of having it handed to them on a silver platter.
Want to talk books with me? Find me on Goodreads (I'm there all the time). I'm now on Shelfari as well.

Hi! I found my way here through the Feature and Follow. I like to read a little about the bloggers, so I always make my way to their about me pages ;-) I've only been blogging for about a month, so I don't have much going on, but I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.
